The Flight Attendant Who Fell 33,000 Feet… And Lived

In 1972, Vesna Vulović, a flight attendant on a Yugoslav Airlines flight, experienced the unthinkable. A bomb exploded on board, tearing the plane apart at 33,000 feet. Everyone died—except her.

Miraculously, Vesna was trapped in part of the fuselage, cushioned by food carts and snow when she hit the ground. She broke her legs and suffered a skull fracture but lived to tell the tale.

Her survival remains the Guinness World Record for the highest fall without a parachute.
